International Undergraduate Admissions

Application Requirements

Application requirements vary per applicant-type. The various undergraduate applicant-types are defined below. Please follow the links as indicated to learn more about the corresponding application requirements.



Freshman (First Year)

Freshman (First Year) Applicants are individuals who have completed, or are about to complete, their secondary school (high school) education and who have not yet attended any college/university.

Note: Some students may receive university-credit for select academic work completed at the secondary school (high school) level. This may include Advanced Placement (AP) courses, International Baccalaureate (IB) courses, Advanced (A-level) examinations or courses completed during a 13th year of secondary school education as per the educational system in select countries.

Transfer

Transfer applicants are individuals who have completed some academic work at an accredited college or university after graduating from secondary school (high school) and who wish to transfer to UNC Charlotte, with the intent to graduate from UNC Charlotte.

Second-Degree

Second-Degree applicants are individuals who have completed a college/university degree which is deemed equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in the USA and who wish to earn another undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree, at UNC Charlotte.

Visitor

Visitor applicants are individuals who are enrolled at another university in the USA and who wish to complete one or a few courses at UNC Charlotte, which are confirmed to transfer back to the original institution.

Note: This option is available only to students who are already in the USA.

Readmits

Applicants for readmission are individuals who were previously enrolled at UNC Charlotte as an undergraduate student, who did not graduate from UNC Charlotte, and who now wish to return to undergraduate study at UNC Charlotte.

Students who wish to return to UNC Charlotte within 24 months of their last enrollment may re-enroll and continue their undergraduate course work. Students who hold F-1 visa status must consult with the International Student/Scholar Office for advising on visa regulations prior to re-enrolling.

Students who wish to return to UNC Charlotte after 24 months of their last enrollment must re-apply for admission to UNC Charlotte by submitting a new application as outlined at the website of the Office of the Registrar at http://www.registrar.uncc.edu/students/readmit.htm.

English Language Training Institute (ELTI)

ELTI applicants are individuals interested in taking English language courses at UNC Charlotte's ELTI for the purpose of English language study only.

Note: Students who are interested in academic study at UNC Charlotte upon acquiring English language proficiency may be "conditionally admitted" at the undergraduate level. For more information, please see http://www.uncc.edu/elti or contact ELTI directly at elti@uncc.edu.

Exchange Students

Exchange Students are students who wish to study at UNC Charlotte for one semester or one academic year through specific exchange agreements which exist between UNC Charlotte and their home institution.

Note: Students interested in such opportunity must contact the Education Abroad Office at their home university.
